In collaboration with industry experts, the Pulse College Momentum FREE 33-Week GameTech Start-Up programme is designed to facilitate the development of ICT, game and interaction design innovators through a combination of vocational and industry training, start-up acceleration and incubation. Graduates of the programme will have experience in entrepreneurship for digital media.

The programme’s 33-week structure will take Participants from the live register to successful entrepreneurs. As part of the development of this programme representatives from the NDRC, Games Ireland and a number of investment companies have been consulted to ensure the content and structure is industry relevant.

The course is delivered at both the Pulse College Dublin and Galway campuses.

Program Content

The programme structure is designed to facilitate a progression of skills and competencies to include vocational and entrepreneurial development. Entrants onto the programme will cover between 3 concentrations depending on their previous qualifications. These concentrations are: Project Management, Digital Arts and Interactive Software Development.

The programme will focus on the development of “T” shaped skills, including core technology skills, business acumen, communication skills, team-working and entrepreneurship, and those graduating the programme can establish companies in a wide range of ICT, Gaming and Interaction Design sectors. These include Digital Media, Game Development, Social Media Technologies, Mobile Device Technologies, App Development, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Education, E-learning and the ‘Internet of Things’.

The initial 3 weeks of the programme will involve a focused induction processes designed to simulate the demands of industry and the workplace as well as provide the soft skills Participants will need throughout the remainder of the programme.

Following on from a 3-week induction programme and in conjunction with in-house industry mentors, business consultants, Enterprise Officers and Jobs Facilitators, programme participants will establish their own ICT companies by transferring to the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme (BTWEA) through a 3-stage process, each 10 weeks in duration:
– ELEVATE / 10 weeks
– ACCELERATE / 10 weeks
– INCUBATE / 10 weeks

To encourage youth entrepreneurship and empowerment, additional modules to develop skills such as problem solving, communication and collaboration have been designed to enhance engagement, creativity and technological aptitude.

To cater for the long-term unemployed and aimed at high growth areas, this programme will engage broad communities, including experienced and first time entrepreneurs, software engineers, creatives (both traditional and new media), sales and marketing professionals, finance and service providers.

To be eligible for selection, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be unemployed for 12 months or longer and
2. At least 18 years of age
3. Be in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance, Benefit or be signing on for Social Insurance Contribution Credits for 12 months or longer and
4. Be actively seeking work.

If you answered yes to the above you may be eligible for a MOMENTUM project. You must apply through your nearest Department of Social Protection Intreo Centre/Local Office to confirm your eligibility and get assistance in identifying a suitable project. Periods spent on Back to Education Allowance, VTOS, FÁS/ Fáilte Ireland Training courses, Youthreach, Community Employment Schemes, TUS, the Rural Social Scheme, Back to Work Scheme, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, Job Initiative or Job Assist may count towards meeting the eligibility for MOMENTUM, provided that you have completed the Scheme in question and are back on the Live Register.

Programme Requirements

1. Leaving Certificate or equivalent: Five passes at ordinary level including maths. OR Any FETAC Major Award at Level 5 or Level 6
2. Evidence of a previous qualification/experience in art, design, media, computing, IT or management OR equivalent.
2. Some numerical aptitude and strong computer skills.
