TAKE FIRST STEP ON THE ROAD TO A CAREER IN THE FILM INDUSTRY!
This in-depth Introductory Course provides an immersive introduction to the exciting world of film production. Students will work extensively with professional film equipment throughout this course, and will receive hands-on experience of writing, shooting, directing and editing. Students will gain a valuable understanding of the overall creative and technical processes involved in film production.
COURSE CONTENT
Day 1
- Introduction to Visual Storytelling & Pre-Production
- Convey emotions, ideas and narrative through visual storytelling.
- Turn ideas / concepts into productions.
- Pre-Production, including budgets, schedules, call sheets and permits.
- Communicating your creative ideas and how to work with actors / cast.
Day 2
- Introduction to Cinematography & Lighting
- Camera operation, lighting techniques and audio recording.
- Safe handling of equipment.
- Hands-on introduction to camera, lenses, tripods, monitors, microphones and various film lighting equipment.
Day 3
- Production
- Enhance your visual communication skills through the creation of a Commercial, using a combination of production techniques.
- Students will learn the importance of collaboration between different departments (Direction, Cinematography, Production Design, etc) and learn to work effectively as part of a team.
Day 4
- Introduction to Post Production
- Explore the various editing tools and features of Davinci Resolve, including the timeline, clip selection, trimming tools and basic image manipulation.
- Learn how to import and organise media, and assemble a rough cut.
Day 5
- Post Production and Screening
- Develop your rough cut edit and take this through the various cut stages to final / lock off stage.
- The day will finish with a screening of the students’ work.

HOW TO APPLY
Prospective students should be over 16 years of age and display an enthusiasm for music and sound, and a desire to take music ideas from initial concept to finished product. There are no minimum academic requirements for acceptance onto this course.
