There is a growing demand for skilled and imaginative people to manage the technologies and create content to a professional standard for corporate events, corporate training videos and conferences. This programme is aimed at learners wishing to upskill / reskill in this field

  • Audio editing and manipulation techniques for film and games
  • Creative sound design for film, TV and games
  • Foley for film, TV and Games
  • Using middleware for the implementation of sound in a virtual world.

Use a DAW to professional standard in post production

Sound Design and Foley FX

Create soundscapes using audio recordings and synthesis

Sound Design and Creative Processing

Use advanced processing to creatively manipulate audio

Audio Post Production Techniques

Use advanced workflows in editing, routing, mixing and automation. Mix audio in surround formats.

Sound Design for Games

Game audio design using industry standard game engines and audio middleware applications

Requirements

All applicants are required to present for interview, and are expected to demonstrate the following:

  • A proven interest in the field of audio and sound
  • Knowledge of the basic use of computers at approximately ECDL level
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for the programme and the audio visual field
  • Commitment to learning, both directed and independent
  • Self-organisation skills.

Please note – upon commencement students will be required to purchase AVID Pro Tools books for this course. These books cost €57 and can be ordered through Pulse College.

This programme will be delivered in a blended format. As such, there are technical requirements for the online learning component (computer or tablet, broadband). Further Progression

Learners who complete the programme are awarded a Certificate in Post – Production and Sound Design Skills for Audio Visual Industries from Pulse College. They also receive a transcript of results detailing their attainment in the constituent modules on the related QQI validated programmes.

The Certificate does not lead to a separate award on the National Framework of Qualifications. However, upon completion of this programme learners may continue their studies in the major award programme, the BA (Hons) in Audio and Music Technologies, an existing validated award on the NFQ, and successful completion of the certificate’s constituent modules entitles learners to exemptions from the related modules in the degree programmes.

Fees

This course is funded through an initiative of the Higher Education Authority (HEA).

Programmes are free of charge if you are unemployed, a homemaker returning to work or are in receipt of the Covid-19 unemployment payment at the time the programme begins.

If you are in employment, were previously self-employed or are a recent graduate, you may be eligible provided you meet the nationality/visa requirement and residence requirement. These categories of learner are eligible for 90% funding and will be required to pay 10% (€315) of the standard tuition fee. The standard tuition fee for this course is €3,150

People in receipt of the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) or Jobseeker’s can apply for this course under the HEA initiative. Fees will be waived for these applicants.
